
Adelaide M. Groundwater passed away on December 28, 2019. She was the daughter of Fred Parish and Mae (Mansfield) Parish. She was a lifelong resident of Yonkers. She married Robert Groundwater on June 27, 1948. He passed away in 1994. Adelaide graduated from Gorton High School. She was a long distance operator for the New York Telephone Company. She was also a School Crossing Guard in Yonkers for many years. Addie was very active with the Widows and Widowers Club, and the Sewing Club at Sacred Heart. She also was a mentor with the SMART program, teaching young children how to read. She loved to go on trips with various groups. She was an avid Yankees fan. Every summer for over 50 years she would go to the Adirondacks to spend time with her friends there. Two brothers predeceased her George Parish and Al (Bobby) Parish, also her great grandson Daniel Flinton in 2011. She is survived by her three daughters; Adelaide (Gary) Klivans of Ballston Spa, NY, Terry (Mike) Novak of Port St. Lucie, Fl, and Barbara Faulkner of Yonkers, NY. She has 5 grandchildren who adored her; Jill, Michael, Jackie, David and Tara and 3 great grandchildren; Avery Rose, Tommy and Shelby. Visitation will be in the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Wednesday January 1, 2020 from 1pm – 5pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Church on Thursday at 10am. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Adelaide requested in lieu of flowers donations please be made to the National Niemann – Pick Disease Foundation PO Box 49 Ft. Atkinson, WI 53538 in memory of Daniel Flinton.
