Drew was born on April 20, 1955 in Yonkers, NY, the son of William F. Kennedy and Eileen O’Grady Kennedy and grandson of Cornelia Archer O’Grady.
Drew’s educational journey began at Sacred Heart and Christ the King Grade Schools in Yonkers. He then graduated from Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY and from New York Law School where he earned his Juris Doctor degree in the early 1980’s.
Throughout his 30’s, Drew was an attorney for American International Group (AIG) in Manhattan, specializing in corporate liability insurance. After that he transitioned into Trusts and Estates, handling both the legal and accounting end, for the remainder of his career.
Outside of his professional life, Drew was an avid reader of history and of sports. He had fond memories of attending games at Yankee Stadium with his father as a child. He was an excellent bowler in his school days and early adulthood. However, his main hobby - starting at age 9 and continuing for the next 60 years was Strat-O-Matic - a classic tabletop baseball game that uses real player statistics, dice, and strategy to recreate and replay the game he loved. It allowed him to combine his appreciation for baseball history with patience, insight and a deep enjoyment of “what-if” possibilities. (It trained people to think probabilistically -- many baseball analysts and front-office thinkers were Strat-O-Matic players.)
Drew is survived by his sister Connie Kennedy and her husband Jacques Parisot, and his sister-in-law Lucille Kennedy, his niece Patricia Kennedy and nephews William Kennedy and Robert Kennedy, his step-nieces Danielle Panko and Melania Panko and step-siblings Andrew Walko and Laura Marrone. Also surviving him are cousins Janet, Betsy, Kathy, Joe, David, Lynn, Jane, Marion, Kathleen, Claire and Edward and step-nephews Eric and Alex Munda and sister-in-law Naomi Kennedy. (Drew’s brother Robert Kennedy and nephew James Kennedy predecease him as does his wonderful step-mom of almost 40 years, Sally Kennedy.) Also, we can’t forget his close friends from Manhattan College and the “Summer House” days…they know who they are!
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at 11:00 at Sacred Heart Church, 110 Shonnard Place, Yonkers, NY 10703. Following that, Drew will be laid to rest at St. John's Cemetery, next to Oakland Cemetery, at 2 Saw Mill River Road, Yonkers, NY (entrance at Oakland Cemetery, corner of Ashburton Ave & Saw Mill River Rd.) If you have any questions, call Connie Kennedy at 914-255-3092.
