Barbara Anne Thiemann

Barbara A. Thiemann, a lifelong Yonkers resident passed peacefully surrounded by family and longtime friend Ann Marie Halloran on October 31, 2016 at the age of 55 after a nearly six year valiant battle with cancer.

Barbara was a graduate of Sacred Heart HS and SUNY Oswego. Following graduation she began a career in the communication industry starting at Katz Communication before moving briefly to Ad Value. She ended her career with GE’s NBC Desktop Video division, a then new concept in the supplying video over the Internet. Her career there was cut short by a debilitating injury that sidelined her mobility.

Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family, reading voraciously and keeping abreast of the advances in technology. She was a friend to all and often offered assistance to those in need.

She was predeceased by her parents John and Eileen (Clohessy), brother John and mother-in-law Aloisa Thiemann. She is survived by her beloved husband of twenty-five years, Steven Thiemann. She is also survived by two sisters Anne Marie (John) Menton of Yonkers and Eileen (Steven) Drescher, niece Erin and nephew Andrew Drescher of Duanesburg, NY. Additionally, she is survived by her father-in-law Heinz Thiemann of Lake Placid and brothers-in-law Peter (Linda) and Thomas. In addition she is survived by many close cousins especially Bob, Kathleen, Mary Liz and Trish Florin of Old Lyme, CT and numerous friends.

Visitation will be Thursday 4-8 pm at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home, 168 Park Ave., Yonkers. Barbara’s life will be celebrated at 9:30 am Friday with a Mass of the Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, 110 Shonnard Place, Yonkers.
