Betty M. Giannelli

Betty M. Giannelli (nee Denness) of Yonkers died on July 4, 2015 at age 89. She was born on July 4, 1926 to James and Catherine (Norgate) Denness in Winchester, England where she was raised and educated. On August 16, 1947 she married Joseph Giannelli in Sacred Heart Church; he died on December 2, 2012. Mrs. Giannelli worked for H.M. Stevens at Yonkers Raceway for over 30 years, then did volunteer work for St. John’s Hospital as an accounting clerk for 24 years. She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and an avid Yankee fan. Mrs. Giannelli is survived by her 3 sons; Joseph (Tina), Denis (Marge) and Tony (Mary Beth) Giannelli. She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and her brother James Denness and her sister Daphene (Cyril) Smith. She was predeceased by her siblings Peggy, Pat and Happy. Visiting hours will be at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be in Sacred Heart Church on Wednesday July 8th at 9:30am.
