
Delois McIver (nee Summers) a resident of Shreveport, Louisiana for the past eight years, formerly of Yonkers, died on Thursday August 11, 2016. She was 80 years old. Born September 11, 1935 to Bentley H. and Mozelle Smith Summers in Gibsonville, North Carolina where she was raised and educated. She studied at Bennett College for three years, was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Floyd E McIver on June 10, 1956 and moved to Yonkers to raise their family. To this union five children were born. Mrs. McIver was employed by the Municipal Housing Authority for the City of Yonkers from November 1974 until her retirement in January 1996. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Yonkers and a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church prior to its closing. She enjoyed bowling and was an avid reader. Surviving are two daughters, Siobhan Jenkins and her husband Gordon of Shreveport, Phyllis Butts and her husband Richard of Yonkers, two sons, James McIver and his wife Janice of North Carolina and Todd McIver of Yonkers and two brothers, Bentley Summers Jr. of New Rochelle and Ronald Summers of Greensboro, North Carolina. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Floyd E. McIver Jr. and a sister, Alice Faye Haynes. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Sunday 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral Service will be held in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on Monday August 22nd at 11am. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery.
