Born on September 2, 1927, Eileen was the beloved daughter of Oliver Cecil and Ellen Thomas
Hall. Her early years were spent on the picturesque island of St. Croix, U.S.V.I., where she was
lovingly raised by her maternal grandparents, Richard Edney and Anne Eliza Brooks Thomas.
At the tender age of 10, Eileen embarked on a new adventure, joining her parents in New York,
where she would build a life filled with purpose, love, and countless meaningful connections.
A Career Dedicated to Caring
Eileen's innate desire to help others led her to pursue a noble career in nursing. After
graduating from the public school system, she eagerly seized the opportunity to enroll in the
Licensed Practical Nurses Program. This decision set the stage for a fulfilling career that would
touch countless lives with her gentle care and warm smile.
Her commitment to her profession was evident in her continuous pursuit of knowledge and
expertise. Eileen's compassionate nature found its perfect expression during her long and
distinguished career at Elmhurst Hospital in Queens, NY, where she became a beacon of hope
and comfort for patients and colleagues alike.
A Champion for Her Profession
Eileen's passion for nursing extended far beyond patient care. She became a respected leader
in the NY State and National Licensed Practical Nurses Association (LPNA), where her
dedication and leadership earned her widespread admiration. Even in retirement, Eileen's
commitment to her profession remained unwavering, as she continued to advocate tirelessly
for the rights and well-being of her fellow nurses.
A Vibrant Spirit

zest for life. A true fashionista, she brought elegance and style to every occasion. Eileen's love
for travel, entertaining, and socializing was matched only by her legendary skills as a card
player and bowler, bringing joy and laughter to all around her.
A Legacy of Love
Eileen's legacy of love lives on through her devoted husband, Thomas Borden, who shared in
her joys and supported her dreams. Her loving influence extends to her bonus sons, Mitchell,
Leslie, and Gus Borden, and her granddaughter, Monique Borden, also nephew Oliver Hall who
will all carry her memory close to their hearts.
Eileen's warmth touched the lives of many, including her cousins Verna Christian-García,
Angela Seeley, Ann Marie Jacobs, Delmin Christian, Sheryl Christian, and Juliette Steven
Clarke. Her godchildren, Delmin "Jerry" García, Janissa García, and Sheryl Simpson Robinson,
were blessed by her guidance and love. Lifelong friends James and Ann Laury, along with
numerous nieces and nephews, will forever cherish their memories of Eileen.
While Eileen was preceded in death by her brothers Owen and Oliver Hall, her spirit lives on
through the countless lives she touched. Her dedicated caregiver, Doriane Austin, and loving
neighbor Marietta Bussey, were privileged to witness the grace and kindness that defined
Eileen's character in her final years.
