
Eldon O. Dore, a longtime Yonkers resident, died on Friday August 7, 2015 at St. John’s Riverside Hospital. He was 80 years old. He was born on September 1, 1934 to James and Gertrude Dore Richards in the Nevis, West Indies where he was raised and educated. Mr. Dore was an Auto Mechanic and school bus driver for the Royal Coach Company in Yonkers, a Forklift Driver at SauSea Foods & an Auto Mechanic at Texaco Station in Crestwood NY for twenty years until his retirement. He was a longtime parishioner of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Getty Square. He loved sports and was an avid Met fan. On March 31, 1973, he married his loving wife, Verna Williams in St. John’s Episcopal Church. Mrs. Dore survives and lives in Yonkers. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Alvie Dore of Allentown, PA, three daughters, Jackie Dore of Canada, Patricia Dore of Yonkers and Carmen Krause of New Rochelle, two brothers, Lincoln and Leighton Dore, both of Nevis, West Indies and three sisters, Iris Lesene and Claudette Ross of Canada and Janet Allen of St. Croix, Virgin Islands. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sisters, Eulalie Bowry and Maybelline Simmons and two brothers Leroy and Sonny Dore. He loved to play cricket and the steel drums. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Thursday 2-4 &
7-9pm. Funeral mass will be held in St. John’s Episcopal Church on Friday August 14th at 10am. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery.
