Eleanor was a remarkable, loyal soul who taught many lessons and shared her infinite love and generosity for her most treasured gifts in life; her family and friends. Eleanor was born in New York City on October 30, 1925 to Catherine (Corbett) Murphy and William Murphy. Eleanor grew up in Bronx, NY and eventually nested in Yonkers where she lived for more than 75 years. Eleanor graduated from Commerce High School in Yonkers, NY in 1944. After graduating High School, she was employed by the Alexander Smith Carpet Factory, A&P, Ciba Geigy and retired from The Home Insurance Company. In her earlier years, Eleanor was a loyal parishioner and volunteer for St. Joseph’s School in Yonkers. Eleanor was also a member of the VFW "Women's Auxiliary", Yonkers City Post 1666. She enjoyed her close-knit social club, playing card games with family and friends, was an avid bowler, shuffleboard player and also loved to dance. Eleanor is survived by her loving sister, Sr. Mary André Murphy, her devoted daughters Mary Dinterman and Nancy Sassano; son-in-laws; Michael Sassano (best friend), and Teddy Mapes. Loving grandchildren; Danielle Bisesto, Michael Sassano, Catherine (Sassano) DiChiaro and James DiChiaro, and three great-grandchildren, Mia, Callie and Lacey. Eleanor is predeceased by her infant daughter, June, her brother William Murphy, her nephew Michael Murphy and her loving grandson John Bisesto. Eleanor always brought a smile to anyone she met with her warm energy, kind face and loving nature. Her humble heart and compassion were never-ending, even in her final moments here on earth. She gracefully departed with a smile on her face to greet God as an Angel. May she rest peacefully in His arms and of those she loves in Heaven.
