Elizabeth A. McGahan

She was born on November 18, 1924 to Simon J. and Julia McCaffrey Sullivan in Yonkers where she was raised and educated, graduating from Sacred Heart High School. She then attended nursing school at Bronx Community College where she received her nursing degree. Mrs. McGahan was a registered nurse at the Bronx State Psychiatric Hospital in the Bronx for several years prior to her retirement. She was a parishioner of the San Pedro Catholic Church in North Port, FL and a member of the San Pedro Ladies Guild in North Port, the Irish American Club of Port Charlotte and the Sons and Daughters of St. Patrick in Venice, FL. In July 1970, she married her loving husband, John J. McGahan in California. Mr. McGahan died in 1990. Mrs. McGahan is survived by a son, Seamus McGillicuddy of Cape Canaveral, FL, three grandchildren, Kara T., Megan and Patrick McGillicuddy and one great granddaughter, Brooklyn. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Sean McGillicuddy, two brothers, William and Raymond Sullivan and two sisters, Jean Tinkler and Eileen Sullivan. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Monday 4-8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church on Tuesday June 5th at 10am. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
