George J. Matthews Sr.

Matthews in Yonkers where he was raised and educated. Mr. Matthews was an accountant for the Otis Elevator Company (United Technologies) in Yonkers for many years prior to his retirement. He also did the books for Most Holy Trinity Church and St. Casimir’s Church. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1959. He was a longtime parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church where he married his loving wife, Rosemary Maskara on May 31, 1966. Mrs. Matthews died on February 27, 2010. Survivors include two sons, George J. Matthews, Jr. and his wife Jamie of Yonkers and Joseph Matthews (YPD) and his wife Cristina of Ardsley and one sister, Barbara Jankowski of Yonkers. He is also survived by his two granddaughters, Ava Rose and Kelly Marie. He was predeceased by a brother, James Matthews, Jr. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Monday 3-7pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Casimir’s Church on Tuesday January 19th at 10am. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
