
Joseph T. Kirwan, a longtime Yonkers resident, died on Friday June 12, 2015 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. He was 69 years old. He was born on February 11, 1946 to Martin and Elizabeth Bock Kirwan in the Bronx where he was raised and educated. Mr. Kirwan was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Yonkers for twenty eight years until his retirement. He was a member of the letter carrier’s union. He was a parishioner of Christ the King Church and enjoyed listening to Doo-Wop music. On January 25, 1992, he married his loving wife, Nora Hayden in Christ the King Church. Mrs. Kirwan survives and lives in Yonkers. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two brothers, Martin Kirwan of Wappingers Falls and Stephen Kirwan and his wife Kathy of Purling, N.Y. and a sister, Suzanne Kirwan of Wappingers Falls. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, James Kirwan. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Sunday 2-4 & 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Christ the King Church on Monday June 15th at 10am. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
