He was born on January 16, 1945 in Yonkers NY, to William R. Thomas and Anna Marie Garner Thomas. Larry was raised in Yonkers and attended Holy Rosary Grade School and Sacred Heart High School. In 1967, he married Ann Marie Ahearn Thomas who pre-deceased him. He is survived by his children Christopher Thomas (Christine), Jennifer Breen, Lauren Lowry (James), and Meaghan Thomas. In 2007, he married Margaret (Peggy) Dugan Thomas. He was a step father to Raymond Dugan (Eileen) and Beth Ann Cerbone (Jason). Together they have 13 grandchildren: Kyle and Julia Breen; Ronan,Conall,and Dermot Lowry; Anna,Caitlin, and Madeline Thomas; Joseph, Ryan, and Matthew Dugan; and Nicholas and Hailey Cerbone. He is also survived by two sisters, Marjory Drennan (Thomas) and Patricia Thomas as well as many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his son-in-law Dermot Breen. Larry served in the United States Army from 1967-1968. He was a graduate of Fordham University and St. Johns University School of Law. He was also a founding partner of the Thomas Drohan Law Firm where he represented the Yonkers Board of Education for over 35 years. During that time, he appeared before the United States Supreme Court and successfully argued for better funding for the school district. Larry was a member of many organizations including the Amackassin Club and the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He was a long time parishioner of Sacred Heart Church. He was an avid golfer, honored recipient of the Darla, and an original member of the EDA. Larry also proudly served on the board of directors at Abbott House in Irvington, NY. His many passions included travel, books, genealogy, and most importantly family. Some of our best memories include a glass of wine and a good debate. He will be greatly missed. Services were held privately due to the world health emergency. The family will be having a celebration of his life in the future and look forward to sharing memories with many family and friends. In honor of his memory, donations may be made to Abbott House or Calvary Hospice.
