Modesto “Jay” Ruiz-Roman of Bayside, N.Y. died on Thursday June 14, 2012 at the N.Y. Hospital Medical Center of Queens. He was 51 years old. Mr. Ruiz-Roman was a police officer for the Triboro Bridge and Tunnel Authority for several years. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army from 1979 to 1992. He is survived by one daughter, Shandra Ruiz, three sons, Matthew, Christopher and Deonte “Neno” Ruiz, one grandson, Jayson Monteleon, his mother, Carmen Roman and his brothers and sisters, Daisy Ruiz, Isreal Ruiz, Hilario Machin, Juan A. Machin and Emma Charlotten. He is also survived by his wife to be, Isela Jaramillo and her children, Alex, Daniel and Andres Jaramillo and his mother in law, Martha Valencia. Visitation will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home, 168 Park Ave., Yonkers on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. A prayer service will be held on Tuesday June 19th at 10 AM in the funeral home. Military Honors and cremation will follow at Ferncliff Crematory in Hartsdale.
