Nancy A. Hewitt

Nancy A. Hewitt, (nee Obertanec) of Ardsley, New York passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones on Friday, October 18, 2024 at age 57, from a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her, including her husband of 31 years Thomas, and her two children Brenna and Daniel.

Nancy was born on July 20, 1967 in Yonkers, New York to John and Patricia (Horton) Obertanec. Nancy grew up in Yonkers and graduated from Saunders High School, where she was an accomplished three-sport athlete and the winner of the "Triple Crown" as a cit champ in basketball, softball and volleyball. Nancy went on to earn a full athletic scholarship to play Division 1 softball at Concordia College, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.

Nancy married her husband Thomas Hewitt, at Sacred Heart Church in Yonkers in 1993. They later moved to Ardsley where they have lived for over 20 years with there two children Brenna and Daniel. For the last 17 years, Nancy worked as a library aide at the Edgemont Elementary School, where she was extremely dedicated to her school and students.

Nancy never stopped pursuing her passion for softball, and she played on a number of local softball leagues over the years. She also loved spending time at the beach at her vacation home in Hampton Bays, New York. Nancy loved spending time with family and friends. Everyone looked forward to her creative dishes and crafts celebrating all holidays. Nancy was a gentle soul that cared deeply for her family. She easily shared her kind and caring ways with all that knew her. She will be truly missed.

Nancy is survived by her husband Thomas and her children Brenna and Daniel, her mother Patricia Obertanec, her brothers Andrew, David and Steven and her sister Caryn Obertanec Dronzek, and many nieces and nephews. Nancy was predeceased by her father John Obertanec.

A visitation for Nancy will be held Tuesday, October 22, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will occur Wednesday, October 23, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 110 Shonnard Place, Yonkers, NY. A committal service will occur Wednesday, October 23, 2024 from 11:45 AM to 12:00 PM at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 West Stevens Ave, Hawthorne, NY.
