

Richard Musci, a lifelong resident of Yonkers, died on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at the age of 77 at San Souci Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Richard, who was fondly known as “Uncle Richie” to all who knew him, was born on June 25, 1937 to Felice and Josephine (Riti) Musci in Yonkers where he was raised and graduated from Gorton High School. He was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church and previously owned and operated Musci Hardware on New Main Street, in addition to providing landscaping services for Whalen Ball Funeral Home prior to his retirement. He devoted much of his time to caring for others: first to his parents and extended family, then to his community of neighbors and friends on DeHaven Drive. Richard was a gifted artist, decorator and chef who also loved in-home entertaining, German shepherds, his cats, Holly and Two Socks and strolling through Untermyer Gardens.
Richard is survived by three sisters, Mary Racioppi of Rockaway, New Jersey, Roseann (Edward) Jones of Yonkers and Nancy (John) Botcheller of Middletown, Rhode Island as well as six nephews and three nieces. He was predeceased by his parents.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, October 10 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart on Saturday, October 11 at 11am..
