

She was born on July 2, 1927 to Cornelius V. and Rose Marie Seery Smith in Yonkers where she was raised and educated, graduating from Sacred Heart High School in 1945. Ms. Smith was an executive secretary for the Exxon-Mobil Oil Company in New York City for over thirty- five years until her retirement. She was an active parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Irvington and a member of its Rosary Altar Society. She was also a member of the Garden Club of Irvington and the Fr. Solanus Casey Group at Sacred Heart Church. She especially loved vacations at the Jersey Shore and spending time with her family and friends. Our “Aunt Sis” will always be remembered for her strong faith, kindness and generosity. Survivors include a brother, Cornelius J. Smith of Yonkers (dec. Beverly Smith) and a sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Dee and her husband Edward of Irvington. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Jacqueline McMahon, Bernadette Wade, Elizabeth (Lisa) Harrington, David Dee, Elizabeth (Lisa) Stanton and Thomas Dee, their spouses, many great nieces and great nephews and her dear friend for many years, Robert Hoffarth. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Thursday 3-7pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church on Friday January 31st at 10am. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Rosary Hill Home, 600 Linda Ave., Hawthorne, N.Y. 10532.
