

Sandra Stagno was born on July 5, 1952, to Doli and Michael Stagno of New York City. She passed away on January 11, 2025, following a long illness.
Sandra was a free spirit who loved culture and the arts, especially dance and music. She pursued piano and voice for many years. She attended Queens College CUNY, where she studied music, followed by studying voice at Columbia University, Teacher’s College.
She had a passion for literature, especially British literature of the nineteenth century. She was an expert on the Brontë sisters (Charlotte and Emily) and amassed a collection of rare books on the Brontë family. She also loved poetry and spent many of her younger years writing poems that were deep and insightful beyond her youth. She was a huge ballet aficionado and for many years, attended season performances of the New York City Ballet.
In addition to her love of the arts, she was a passionate animal lover and rescued and nurtured many cats. A vegan and animal rights activist, she joined her sister in promoting a kind and compassionate world.
She is survived by her sister Barbara Stagno and brother-in-law Larry D’Antonio in Dobbs Ferry.
