Sanford L. Canady passed away at the age of 76. He was born on July 24, 1940 in New York, N.Y. to Samuel Canady and Julia Davis Canady. Sanford was married to Peggy Myers-Canady for 16 years but they met in 1990 and were together for 26 years. During his lifetime he worked for Adam Metal Supply in Elizabeth, N.J. as a warehouseman where he retired after 31 years of distinguished service. He loved sports and was an avid Yankees fan. He was preceded in death by his younger brother Robert Canady, and stepsons Anthony Davis and Frank L. Williams. He leaves behind to cherish his lovely wife Peggy whom he considered to be his best friend. He is survived by his former wife Johnsie Lucretia Canady. Survivors also include his sons, Richard (Valerie), Kenneth (Janice), and Gregg Canady, his grandchildren, Corey, Jasmine, Candace, Chanice, Kelvin, Shalay, and great grandchildren, Nia and Camea. Sanford is survived by his sister Julia “Bunta” Canady. Also, he is survived by three stepsons, Joseph Davis (ex-daughter-in-law Arlisa), Victor Reed (ex-daughter-in-law Tyona), Keith Williams, and step daughter Felicia Williams-Jongue (Martin Jongue son-in-law). Sanford and Peggy adopted and raised their granddaughter Precious Williams. Precious brought him much joy. Sanford also had 14 great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law, five brother in-laws and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Thursday 4-8pm. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday January 6th at 11am. Final disposition is private.
