Gerhard Ludwig Schultz

Gerhard (Gary) Ludwig Schultz went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 7, 2023, at the age of 96. He was born on June 29, 1927, to Ludwig and Wanda Schultz, both German immigrants, in Barrington, Illinois. He is survived by his wife Eileen of 68 years, his four children: Karla (Monte), Mitchell (Anita), Gary, and Kristin; eight grandchildren: Kami, Rachel, Lindsey, Taylor, Hannah, Tanner, Hunter (Sofia), and Parker; two great-grandchildren: Kallie and Emmy; five nephews: Alan (Lynn), David, Thomas (Deb), Steven (Nancy), and Jerry, and one niece, Carol (Tom). Three siblings: Norman, Hildegard, and Irving; one grandchild, Patrick, and one nephew, Richard, preceded him in death.

Gary grew up in Chicago, Illinois. He served several years in the army at the end of World War II. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Mechanical Engineering. He moved to Long Beach, California where he met his schoolteacher wife, Eileen. He worked as an engineer at McDonnell Douglas and Litton Industries on aerospace and defense-related projects. In 1972, he left engineering to focus on real estate investing while his wife taught elementary school. He and Eileen were married for 68 years and enjoyed dancing, traveling, and golfing. Gary had Alzheimer's for the past ten years of his life and his devoted wife Eileen cared for him.

His wife will remember his compliments on how pretty she looked and his hugs. His children and grandchildren will remember him for his intelligence, hard work, quick wit, frugality, intense drive, and desire to live to 100.

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26)

A viewing for Gerhard will be held Monday, September 18, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at McAulay & Wallace Mortuary, 902 N. Harbor Blvd., Fullerton, CA 92832, followed by a funeral service from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM.
