Robert William Shearer (Bob) went to be with his Lord and savior, December 10, 2017 in Clearwater, FL. Bob was born in York on September 1, 1919 to William and Myrtle Shearer. He attended William Penn High School and Thompson Business School and served in the Army Air Force in World War II. Bob was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in York for most of his life and served as Treasurer and Consistory President. He joined York Shipley Inc. in 1946 as a bookkeeper and retired in 1985 as President. Bob loved to hunt, fish, play golf and travel with his wife, Doris after retirement. He will always be remembered for his kindness, love of children and family. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Doris C. Shearer; and his daughter, Linda Shearer Rath; siblings, Richard Shearer and Helen Hetrick. Survivors include his son, David Shearer of Indian Rocks Beach, FL; grandchildren, Robert A. Shearer of Zepherhills, FL, Andrew Rath and Jessica Rath Brookshire of Winchester, VA; great-grandchildren, Nate, Alexis and Asher Brookshire; sister-in laws, Shirley Shearer, Julia Thomas and Virginia Switzer of York; and numerous nephews and nieces. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
