

Red Lion - William "Dean" McPherson, 87 of Red Lion, formerly of Fawn Township took the journey to Heaven on November 4, 2018 at home, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Norma Jean (Rider) McPherson, with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage on September 20th.
Born August 6, 1931 in Fawn Grove, PA, he was a son of the late Earl J. and Martha E. (Wiley) McPherson.
After serving 3 years in the National Guard, Dean was drafted into the Army and served in the Korean War. After returning to civilian life, he spent 40 years as a truck driver for YorkTowne Kitchens. He also enjoyed hunting, collecting stamps and coins, and was a history buff. Dean was a faithful member and Chaplain of Fawn Grove VFW, and recently a member of Red Lion VFW. Most of all, he enjoyed family get-togethers, and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was also a generous donor to many charities and organizations.
In addition to his wife, Norma, Dean is survived by 4 children: Regina A. McPherson of Red Lion, Randall D. McPherson of Red Lion, Debra E. Shenk and her husband, Todd of Felton, Tracey A. Fahs and her husband, Brian of Red Lion; 5 grandchildren: Dayne Ness, Levi & C.J. Shenk and Ellie & Corinne Fahs; 7 siblings: J. Webb McPherson of Maryland, Anne Smith of New Park, PA, Donnie McPherson and his wife, Rosemarie of Colorado, Bruce McPherson and his wife, Mable of Red Lion, PA, Dot Devilbiss and her husband, Joe of Fawn Grove, PA, Dale McPherson of Stewartstown, PA, Mike McPherson and his wife, Kim of Felton, PA and Sandy Nace and her husband, Marvin of Felton, PA; brother-in-law, Glen Rider and his wife, Pat of Red Lion, as well as many loving nieces, nephews and family members.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Joey Fahs, his brother, Danny McPherson and his sister, Roxy Koons.
A graveside service to celebrate Dean's life will be held on Saturday, November 10th, 2018 at 10am at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York with Pastor Don Hackett officiating. Military honors will be rendered by the Dallastown American Legion Honor Guard.
