

Robert “Bob” Lee Stevens, 90, of Sun City, Arizona passed away peacefully at his home with family after a few short weeks of illness. Bob was fortunate to be of sound mind and able bodied until the last month.
He was born January 27, 1933, in Shawneetown, Illinois the son of Dell Deltas Stevens and Dorothy Marie Crowder, both of whom preceded him in death. Bob lived in McLeansboro, IL, Centerline, MI, and Arizona.
Bob made a life around his passion of cranes, operating, managing and mentoring future generations of operators. He loved his work and the people he worked with and was always willing to share is expert knowledge with anyone who was willing to put in the work. He did not retire until he was 77!
Bob was a member of the Freemasonry, a fraternal order dating back to the Middle Ages and he belonged to a few churches over his life most recently Christ Church Anglican. Bob had many hobbies including: Mining, Restoring Classic Cars, and Woodworking – he was a perfectionist at anything he did and his craftsmanship was exceptional. Bob was also an animal lover, who on many occasions over the years rescued cats and dogs, bringing them home. Whatever he put his mind to he would do his best, work hard, and make a positive impact – he never wanted credit or to be the center of attention.
Bob loved his grandchildren Matthew and Andrea. He always enjoyed spending time with them and supporting them in their activities like Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and hearing them at their music concerts – he was proud of them as they grew into adults.
In 1972, Bob married the love of his life, Barbara J. Stevens, who survives him. They were married for 51 years. He is additionally survived by his son David L. Stevens, daughter-in-law, Jessica A. Stevens and their children, Matthew L. Stevens and Andrea L. Stevens, as well as his brother Kenneth Stevens.
Bob will be laid to rest at Phoenix Memorial Park Cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona.
