Shirley Shotts was born on July 2nd, 1947, to Orville and Mary Shotts, raised along with her sister Suzanne in Indianapolis, Indiana. Shirley married (my father) Herbert Wayne Lawson on 8-28-1965; divorced in 1971, Shirley then moved with her two daughters to Colorado in 1974. She 🎓 from CU Boulder in 1980. 1982 she had a third daughter.  On 6-25-1987, Shirley married Randy Lee McCabe. In 2017, Shirley moved to Tempe, Arizona to be in the sunshine all the time. Shirley valued the Rodeo above all, for she believed she was an Indian cowgirl at heart. Intelligent and family oriented, she never did well without family. Her life expressed like a River, ever changing and forever present. Shirley sadly passed from Septic Shock in the hospital on 12-21-21. Like my favorite River, Shirley Shotts (my mother) will remain forever in my Heart. Rivers will continue to flow and change the landscape just as Shirley did throughout her life's journey. Come on along now women, for you will never be forgotten.

I will always remember going to the grocery store and Grandma always singing whatever song was on trying to embarrass me, but I would just sing along with her. I still sing in the grocery store to this day.

                     Shirley was kind of a 2nd mom to me in my late teens and early 20's. She was what I fondly remember her a "cool" mom ! That woman loved to sing and loved her beloved Broncos. A particular and typical memory of her, was me stuck in a blizzard {'82 ?}... I found myself  knocking on her door way passed midnght. Of course she answered and welcomed me in, offered a warm snack and drink. It was kind of like she expected me > Shirley always had that welcoming manner about her ! To sum it up > SHIRLY was one hell of gal ! Bless her heart... ~sean~

I remember as a child my mother was very driven to provide for her three daughters as a single parent.  She worked very hard most of her life! She was also very outspoken. She loved to sing and everyone loved to listen. She had a beautiful voice! Thank you mom for passing down your love of music to all of us.  I love and will forever miss you!!

Mom always had more than enough food in the house for me and my friends. She used to rub my head to Ocean music in the background whenever I would get a headache. We used to sing karaoke together when I was younger and our favorite one together was You and Me Against the World sung by Vince Gill and his daughter. Mom loved her family very much! And although our paths put some distance between us all, the bond we share through our memories and hardships will forever be held sacred! There is so much still that I wish we could have experienced together! Time is so short, and not guaranteed, but I have faith we will embrace each other again!
