

Virginia Ann Rossano, 90 ended her journey January 12, 2016 in Youngtown, Arizona. She left this world surrounded by her loving family. Her journey began in New York City on November 16, 1925. She was the second child to Mary and William Fitzgerald, her sister being Dorothy. When she was four, she met her lifelong friend, Aggie, who remained her dearest friend until the day of her passing. Virginia Rossano was a polymath who lived her life with passion and humor. She was an avid reader with a versatile and agile mind, which gave rise to ther quick wet. She saw the humor in everything, and that made life’s struggles more easily manageable for all around her. Her sharp mind and strength of spirit made her a trail blazer and inspiration, becoming the first female Director of Food Service for New York University Medical Center. That success was a gift to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and their success is her legacy. She married the love of her life, Andy, in 1944. They had two children and 32 wonderful years together. She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Smith; son-in-law, Edward Smith; daughter-in-law, Nancy Rossano; four grandchildren, Dr. Danielle Gordon, Tara Massahos, Dr. Joseph Rossano and Edward Smith; and nine great-grandchildren, Monique Rossano-Rasmussen, Cole Massahos, Hayes Massahos, Tanner Massahos, Alexis Flaherty and Payton Massahos, Mary Rossano, Anthony Rossano, Isabella Rossano; grandson-in-law, Josh Massahos, granddaughter-in-law Dr. Christine Falkensammer; great granddaughter-in law Sheryl Rossano-Rasmussen.
