Anna Mae O'Dell, nee Harkrider, was born on August 17th, 1940, outside of Limon Colorado, to A.L. and Reba Harkrider. She passed away Jan. 10th 2026, at the young age of 85. She grew up around Anton and Akron Colorado but graduated high school in Big Springs Texas. After moving back to Akron, Colo. she met Maurice "Skip" O'Dell and they were married in Calif. when he was stationed there with the Army. They started a home in Akron not long after and he went to work at the family restaurant. They had two children, Kelly and Chris a couple years later. They eventually moved to Yuma AZ when Skip was stationed there with the Border Patrol.
Besides taking care of the home and kids, Anna worked full time. She worked at Fed Mart (where Staples is now) and then Imperial Hardware (where Harbor Freight is now). She liked working and meeting people and finding out all about them. After Skip retired, they traveled a bit until his passing in 1999. Anna then worked part-time as a Leggs representative and then as a driver for Enterprise Rental Cars. This was probably her favorite job as she got to drive all over Arizona. She met Gerry Hendricks around this time, and they also traveled a bit. They enjoyed an Alaskan cruise and visited family. They were together for the next 13 years until his passing in 2018. They were living in a beautiful home she was quite proud of in Banning CA. Three years later she moved back to Yuma to be closer to family.
Anna loved cooking, decorating her home, and shopping. She loved a good bargain. She also loved to sew and make clothes for her daughter and granddaughter, even making her daughter's wedding dress.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Skip O'Dell, her brother A.L. Harkrider Jr., and partner Gerry Hendricks. She is survived by her children, daughter Kelly Gladney (Philip), and son Chris O'Dell. Also, her grandkids, Kaysha Riggs (Brent Fetters) and Kent Riggs. Other close family include sisters-in-law, Janice Harkrider, Dee Odell, Nora Treat, and nieces and nephews. Also, close cousins Perk and Betty Odell.
There will be no services at this time, but a celebration of life will eventually be held in Colorado where she will be laid to rest with Skip.
