I don’t remember a time when Joanne wasn’t in my life. There were times when we didn’t keep in touch regularly, but I always knew she was there. 

She was the oldest cousin, and I was the youngest so those roles kept us close. She started working at the theater in Ogallala, maybe when she was in high school. She took me to my first movie…Lady and the Tramp… and bought me a book and handkerchief to go with it.  She liked experimenting with my hair. Sometimes those experiments weren’t quite so successful!🤭 

Ken was a special friend to our family, so it seemed ideal that they married although we missed them when they made their new life in San Diego. 

I know she loved her family, and she would do whatever she could to help them. After Ken passed away, .she loved being with Scott and Viola in Yuma.  She was very supportive when I was diagnosed with cancer, and I will cherish the cancer quilt she sent me.    I will miss her and the role she played as the oldest of the 13 cousins, but I will find comfort in the memories of her in my life.

This woman meant the world to me. My mom’s best friend, who  started watching and caring for my brother and I since we were toddlers.  She was an instrumental part of our lives til the day she was called to heaven.  
Joanne thank you for your words, your guidance, your laughter, but most of all thank you for all your love.  Your love for us never wavered. 
To the family, I’m so sorry for your loss, she was a wonderful woman who loved her family with all her heart.  I’m thinking of you all during this difficult time.  
RIP my beautiful  other mother.

Your mother was like a second mom to me growing up. I’ve always remembered the good times and the lessons she taught me. All my love in this hard time.
