

She was born in Hutchinson, KS and grew up on the farm in Abbyville, KS and Mt. Hope, KS. She received her B.S. in Education from Friend's University in Wichita, KS and moved to Yuma, AZ in 1972 for a teaching position. She was an elementary school teacher in Wichita, KS, Yuma, AZ and Roll, AZ. She retired in 1998 from Crane School District.
She loved music and used her talent to the best of her ability glorifying God. She played the piano and was organist in past years at churches in Kansas and at Mohawk Valley Presbyterian Church in Roll, AZ, 1st Presbyterian Church in Yuma, Faith Lutheran Church in Yuma and substituted at other churches in Yuma. She enjoyed going to concerts and plays. In her younger years she enjoyed riding her horse. She enjoyed reading, watching baseball and other sports on TV and visiting with family and friends. She had a deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ our Savior. She had a loving, kind and compassionate heart that reflected the love of Jesus to everyone. She was a Deacon and Stephen Minster for many years at her churches and enjoyed helping others. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Yuma, AZ.
Beth is survived by her husband of 19 years, James; her daughter, Lynette Hamilton of Yuma, AZ; sister, Nathalie (Roy) Compton, Marysville, WA; sister-in-law, Karen Nicklaus, Yuma, AZ; niece Kristy (Ricci) Arviso; nephew, Kirk Nicklaus, Yuma, AZ, niece, JaNan Lemieux, Maple Valley, WA; Jeff Curry, Olympia, WA.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frederick "Fritz" and Leona Nicklaus; her brother, E. Vonne Nicklaus and son-in-law, John Hamilton.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 10:00 am at Trinity United Methodist Church, 3030 S. 8th Ave, Yuma, AZ. Pastor Tweedy Sombrero will be officiating. Reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
