David Avilez

David Avilez was born on May 13, 1947 in Calexico California and died on August 29th at Haven of Yuma at the age of 68. David graduated from Yuma High school in 1965. He was drafted and served in the Vietnam War between 1966 and 1972 and was honorably discharged. Over the years David worked at various jobs with his longest being at Wades Distributing. He then worked at Sam's Club for a short time and went on to become a private contractor at Main St. Cinemas where he worked until his health began to decline in 2007.

David was a kind and caring man. He was very protective of his family, especially his nieces and nephews. David taught his nephews the importance of working for what you want and to always take care of family. David was always concerned with everyone else's well-being rather than his own. Up to his last days, he was always asking how everyone was and wanted to make sure everyone was taken care of.

David was preceded in death by his father, Simon Avilez; mother, Beatrice O. Avilez; sister, Mary T. Cedillo. David is survived by his brother, Simon Avilez of San Diego; his sister Yolanda (Antonio) Sabori , of Phoenix, Arizona; nephews Joseph Sabori, Scottsdale, Arizona; Henry T.(Guadalupe) Sabori Yuma, Arizona, Christopher (Jennifer) Sabori of Phoenix, Arizona; niece Cynthia Taylor of Yuma, Arizona and great nephews Freddy LA Taylor, Christian Taylor, of Yuma, Arizona, Benjamin and Jackson Sabori, of Phoenix, Arizona; step great nephews Esaile and Carlos; step great nieces Patricia and Stevie and cousins Vicky, Denise and Eddie Avilez.

The Avilez and Sabori family would like to thank Dr. Coriano, David's primary care physician, Dr. Kaynak, David's Cardiologist, and all the staff at Haven of Yuma, especially the RN's and CNA's, who David considered as friends, that took care of him every day for the last nine months.

Services will be held at Funeraria del Angel Kamman 795 W. 28th Street Yuma, Arizona on Friday September 4, 2015 at 12:00 pm to 2:00pm, Rosary will be at 2:00 pm, scripture service will be at 3:00 pm.
