He was a Great American.  He was the best boss I ever had. I worked for David over 10 years when I was at the Yuma County Attorney’s Office.  I would also confer with him when I had a big case to try. He always gave me sage advice.  His door was always open.  After he retired I and my wife would see David and Pat at sporting events. Seeing them always brought a smile and a warm greeting. Everyone I knew respected and loved David.  He will be missed.

David Ellsworth was such a man of integrity who so much loved his gracious and fun-loving wife, Pat, and all their children and grandchildren so clearly that he was a role model for all of the many people who knew him, worked with him, or for him.  I was privileged to be a Deputy Yuma County Attorney for twenty three years, the first ten of those years working for David Ellsworth when he was the Yuma County Attorney.   I still remember being a brand new drug prosecutor, newly arrived in Yuma with my young family from Phoenix, and I had a case involving a member of a prominent Yuma family.  One day, David came to my office and asked me about the case.  He said that a very influential local attorney had come to see him and had complained that we were prosecuting the case the way that we were only because the defendant's family was so wealthy.  When I went over the facts of the case and what we were doing, David listened very carefully to my explanation.  When I had finished, David assured me that I was doing my job impartially in the manner that he would expect.  He said to me, "Mark, you take care of this, and I'll take care of that."  I loved this good man from that moment on.  Karen and I and our entire family extend our deepest condolences and sincerest sympathies to Pat and the entire Ellsworth clan.
