Elizabeth Wright was born in Clodine, Texas on May 12, 1929 to Sadie and Ross Ford Sr. Sister Wright is survived by three sisters: Lolliebee Allen, Mamie Rasmus, Mary Starks and one brother Ross Ford, Jr. She was preceded in death by husband of 35 years Joe E.Wright Sr. (January 4, 1986)
Evangelist Wright loved the Lord and the Church as evident in the attainment of her ministry certification. In addition she was a devoted mother that loved her family. She worked tirelessly and endlessly to support her family after her husband passed and set an outstanding example for them and all to emulate.
Evangelist Wright was an active child, raised in the church. Evangelist Wright was a child long before desegregation and the civil rights legislation of 1964 yet she persevered under extreme and harsh conditions: like many of her generation that suffered and sacrificed to lay the foundation for the advancement and progress of humanity today. She never sat idle feeling sorry for herself; she was a member of the Democratic Party Council where she fought to make sure that educational opportunities were open to her children. Truth be told, most adults find it impossible to survive today yet she survived in times and conditions exponentially worst. She found a way when there appeared no way.
Evangelist Wright was a loving and giving mother, always dividing her time between family, friends and others. She never settled or felt that things were good enough, she went back to school and got her diploma and went on to become a certified minister. She was grounded in who she was and never put on airs that she was something other than a child of God.
Elizabeth Wright started her journey in life in Phoenix, AZ after moving from Texas. Several years later after the birth of their two eldest daughters they moved to Wellton, AZ where Elizabeth settled in and she then gave birth to five additional children and enjoyed being a mother and housewife. She was a member of the Wellton Presbyterian Church for many years before joining the Rose of Sharon Church of God in Christ. She eventually went to work for the Wellton Post Office, Wellton Elementary School, Olsen Market and Antelope Union High School and managed the Desert Inn Motel. She spent several years volunteering and managing the Wellton Senior Center with the Senior Nutrition Program.
Evangelist Wright was a willing worker, a cheerful giver, faithful, available and teachable. She served with integrity and with a humble spirit. She served as the President of the Pastor's Aide Committee, President of the Mother's Board, President of the LD Bowen Fellowship District Missionary Circle, Sunday School Teacher, a member of the Senior Choir. She cherished the fellowship and traveling to various district and state Convocations, Conferences and Revivals. She always wanted to be where the saints were.
Evangelist Wright leaves to cherish in her precious memory four daughters and three sons: Dora Dean Owens (Leonard), JoAnn Burns ( L A), Sylvia Douglas, Joe Earl Wright Jr. (Claudia), Benny Ray Wright, Kenneth Lee Wright, and Juanita Marie Stephens (Richard). She leaves several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many special church family friends from Rose of Sharon Church of God in Christ, and a host of relatives, friends , and loved ones.
