

James (Jim) Earl Evangel peacefully passed away on July 25th in Yuma, Arizona at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born December 26th 1950 to Theodore (Ted) and Marie Evangel in San Mateo California, the second of four boys. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Jim’s greatest accomplishment was raising his family. He married the love of his life Sharon on February 9th, 1975. He raised 3 beautiful daughters that were his pride and joy. He helped raise and made a lasting impression on not only his grandchildren but also his great grandchildren who loved and adored him.
Jim was a loyal San Francisco Giants and San Francisco 49ers fan. He also enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family, and traveling with his loved ones to some of his favorite places such as Hawaii and Canada. He was a passionate member of the Sacramento Society For the Blind where he found a passion for teaching and helping others in the Blind Community.
He was a man of integrity, patience, compassion, courage, and honor. Jim had a contagious smile and laugh that brought joy to everyone he came across. He was the man people turned to for words of wisdom, guidance, and support.
Jim is survived by his Father, Theodore Evangel (Charolette Evangel); wife of 47 years, Sharon Evangel; brothers Peter Evangel (Debbie Evangel), Ted Evangel Jr. (Robin Evangel), David Evangel; his three daughters Michelle Marshall (Greg Marshall), Cheryl Webb (Don Hodgin), and Tanya Franklin; grandchildren Kaitlin Murphy (Spencer Murphy), Amanda Gil, David Webb (Natasha Webb), Alexis Uphouse (Zac Uphouse), Daniel Webb, Alec Franklin, Lily Franklin, Isabella Marshall, Jaden Hodgin, Tyler Hodgin; his great grandchildren Hailey Murphy, Connor Murphy, and Colton Murphy. Jim was preceded in death by his mother Marie Evangel.
