Jesse Scott Hancock was the oldest son of Jesse Ray and Sammie Jo Hancock. He was born on August 22, 1950 in Mesa, Arizona. He passed away on September 26, 2016 at his home in Dome Valley from a heart attack.
Scott was a devoted son and grew up working on his family farm in Dome Valley. He attended Yuma High School where he was awarded Star Greenhand for his FFA Chapter and Arizona Western College. Family and farming were his lifelong passions. He married Linda Alexander on June 6, 1969. She was his best friend and constant companion. They recently celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary. Together they raised three sons, Todd, Ryan, and Rhett. Scott was always supportive of his sons in all of their pursuits, from showing 4-H steers to off-road racing. From his three sons, he had ten grandchildren. As a Papa, he took great joy in actively participating in each of their lives and was always there
if they needed anything. Scott loved farming and farmed his entire life, up until the day he died. He worked long hours and took great pride in his farms. People often commented that you could never find a weed in any of his fields. He truly valued his friend and right hand man Humberto Gutierrez, who worked with him for the last seventeen years.
Scott was a generous man to all he knew and was an anchor for his entire family. He will be dearly missed! Scott’s father Ray preceded him in death four days prior and he is survived by his mom, Sammie Jo Hancock, siblings, Sue (Allen) Irwin, Deb (John) Holbrook, Mark (Susie) Hancock, Jane (Jeff) Nobbs. Sons, Todd, Ryan (Ashley) and Rhett (Alicia) Hancock, special daughter in law, Kish Curtis. He was Papa to Olivia, Elena, Emma, Hunter, Kruz, Cash, Alexandra, Sophia, Violet and Goldie.
