

Kurt was born on May 17, 1950, as Curtis Keith Glassel to parents Norman (Kansas) and Madeline Glassel in Phoenix, Arizona. He grew up in Yuma, Arizona and graduated from Kofa High School in 1968. He was active in many school clubs including the golf team and annual staff. His summer job for 2 years was in the agricultural fields picking cantaloupe.
Kurt then went on to attend the University of Arizona and later became a Stockbroker in Los Angeles where he passed the GSRE exam in only one try. He had a residence in Studio City where he also studied the movie industry, and his neighbors were Pat McCormic (one of Johnny Carson’s lead writers) as well as actor Robert Blake. Kurt also spent some time in Valdez, Alaska working on the pipeline in the 1970’s. He owned many boats and even lived in some in San Diego, California for some time.
Kurt obtained his pilot’s license early on and had his own plane for a while. He also was scuba diving certified. He had a love for traveling and exploring and had been to most of the states in the United States and all over the world as well. He was part of the WIN traveling RV club in his later years and would spend many summer months traveling various parts of the US. With his travels to Alaska and Antarctica he had a special place in his heart for Penguins.
Kurt loved family gatherings and events with friends, but he also liked being alone. Kurt called himself a “horse trader” because he loved the buying and selling of many things, real estate, RV’s, vehicles and whatever. He had a knack for buying low and selling for profit. Kurt was a tall man at 6’3” and had a big personality to match. Kurt was truly unique and one of a kind.
Kurt is survived by his sister, Nancy (Kevin) Wick and nephew Aaron (Elisabeth) Davis and niece April (Carlos) Davis-Arteaga and great nieces Charlize, Claire, and Abigail. Also, his beloved Aunt Jean Stevens and many cousins. His death was unexpected, and his absence is deeply felt.
