Born on July 15th, 1941 in Guasave, Sinaloa, Mexico, Luz was the cherished daughter of Jose Maria and Adela Gaxiola. From an early age, Luz’s heart was drawn to the Lord, and her faith became the foundation of her life. She embodied joy, wisdom, intelligence, and a deep devotion to God, traits that guided her through every chapter of her journey. Her love for the Lord was not just a private faith but one she joyfully shared with everyone she encountered. Her radiant spirit reflected the grace and love of God, and she lived every day as a testament to His goodness.
Luz pursued her passions with boundless energy and determination, earning a General Educational Development (GED) certificate. She went on to build a meaningful career as a childcare provider, where her unwavering dedication left a lasting impact on all who were in her care. Luz was also a devoted member of the Templo Bethel Assembly of God and Bethania Assembly of God in Yuma, AZ. For many years, she taught Sunday school, nurturing the faith of countless children and sharing the gospel. She had a unique gift for connecting with young hearts, planting seeds of hope and love that will continue to grow in the lives of those she mentored.
Luz was the heart and soul of her family, a source of strength and unconditional love. She is survived by her children, Jose Uziel Ramirez, Abner Ramirez, and Yariet Ramirez; her grandchildren, Dr. Zeni Ramirez, Dianitiza Lopez, Dyaneli Diaz, Zanaa Ramirez, Davianna Diaz, Demari Diaz, Elijah Ramirez, Anabella Camarena, Ethan Ramirez, Christiano Camarena, Alexa Camarena, and Eddy Ramirez; her
great-granddaughter, Adalyn Lopez; her siblings, Haydee Gaxiola and Eloisa Lopez; and her
daughters-in-law, Inez Ramirez and Yesenia Ramirez. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emigdio Joaquin Vera Ramirez, and her daughter, Ada Oralia Diaz.
A funeral service to celebrate Luz’s beautiful life will be held on September 19th, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at Johnson Mortuary and Desert Lawn, 1415 S. 1st Ave, Yuma, AZ. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to The Hansen House in Luz’s memory, so that her spirit of generosity may continue to shine. In this time of profound sorrow, we find comfort in the love Luz shared with us all and in the countless memories that will live on in our hearts forever. We love you, Nana Blanca.
