

Maria Olson, 86, passed away unexpectedly early Tuesday morning, September 16, 2014. Maria was born February 4, 1928 in Navojoa, Sonora, Mexico and moved to the United States in 1972. She was a devoted Catholic, always praying to the Virgin of Guadalupe. She was also a proud member of the Eagles and American Legion for more than 42 years. Maria cherished her Mexican heritage and loved to dance; which kept her young well beyond her years. She had a passion for traveling and visited places like: Paris France, Rome Italy, Venice Italy, Switzerland, Germany, and the Vatican.
Maria is survived by her son, Daniel Acosta and his wife, Teresa of Yuma; son, Guillermo Acosta and his fiancé Magdalena Lopez of San Luis, Mexico; daughter, Maria Hidle and her husband, William of Yuma; grandchildren, Maribel Navarez, Maria De la Torre, Belen Acosta, David Acosta, Jacaranda Acosta, John Hidle and Jessica Toilolo; 15 great grandchildren; sister, Rosa Isela Garcia of Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, Mexico; 4 nieces; 2 nephews; and 8 cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tage Olson; mother, Rosario Aragon; father, Rosario Ramos; and brother, Ramero Ruiz.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Johnson Mortuary, 1415 S 1st Avenue, Yuma. A church service will be held in her honor at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, September, 22, 2014 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission, 417 S. 15th Avenue, Yuma. Interment and graveside service will be at Desert Lawn Memorial Park immediately following the service. Pallbearers: William Hidle, John Hidle, Nathaniel Knisley, Ruben Navarez, Ricardo De La Torre, Guillermo Acosta, Daniel Acosta, and David Acosta.
