Marla Lee Flores

5 July, 194825 July, 2020

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marla Lee Flores, 72 at Yuma Regional Medical Center on Saturday, July 25, 2020 due to various health issues. Marla peacefully passed with her husband Manuel (Manny) at her side as they were inseparable and were each other’s rock, best friend, and soulmate.

Marla was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada, grew up in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and was the youngest of four children born to Ted and Doris Watson. While growing up in Edmonton Marla attended Sherbrooke School and Ross Shepherd High School. Marla moved to the United States in May 1985 initially settling in Vancouver, Washington. In 1996, she and Manny were married and in 2000 moved to Arizona and lived in the Chandler area for several years. In 2015, they relocated to Yuma, Arizona shortly after Marla’s retirement as a Benefits Administrator for over 25 years.

Marla loved her Ford Mustangs and clocks but most important to her was her love, dedication, and commitment to family and close friends. She was a superb cook and loved to entertain family, neighbors, and friends at numerous family style dinners she hosted. Marla consistently dedicated her life to being successful at work and at home and will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Marla is survived by her husband Manny (Yuma, AZ); son David Haynes (Clarkston, MI), brother Don Watson (Beamsville, Ontario, Canada); sisters Gail Dermott (Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada) and Joan Swane (London, Ontario, Canada) as well as six nieces and nephews in the U.S. and Canada and nine grandchildren and one great grandchild in the U.S. She is preceded in death by her parents Ted and Doris Watson, Sister-in-Law Shirley Watson, and Brother-in-Law Con Dermott. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, services will be held at a later and safer date.

My sister Marla and I were close when we were in our preteen years. We had a friend across the street (Marilyn) and we spent a lot of time one summer playing Clue on a blanket in her backyard.
In later years Marla liked to reminisce about our parents and siblings. You are missed.

Love always,

Glenda (Dermott) Turner

Our deepest sympathies to you Manny on your loss - as my mom said I can still remember all these many years later how patient Auntie Marla was when I was learning to shuffle cards!! Wow - not sure how she did it but she did and all in one visit!! Our thoughts are with you - love Glenda, Ian and Cameron

Many good memories of our baby sister Marla. She was a gifted card player at an early age, and played cards with our Mom for years, as well as lots of scrabble games. Marla could shuffle cards, and our daughter got auntie Marla to teach her to shuffle cards like she did. Took many try's, but she mastered it. She was a good Mom and wife, and excellent home maker. She will be missed by many. Love you lots Marla, rest in peace.
