Robert A. DeLintt, Sr. "Bob" passed away peacefully on May 29, 2021 at age 88. Bob departed this life in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving wife Hortense and his three sons. Bob was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many.
Bob was born in Yuma, Arizona to Alfredo and Lucinda DeLintt. He attended Immaculate Conception Elementary School and graduated from Yuma Union High School in 1952. He attended Arizona State Teacher’s College and while in school, he was drafted and later served in the U.S. Army. After being honorably discharged in 1955, he married the love of his life, Hortense Juarez, in Flagstaff. Together they were blessed with four sons: Robert Jr., Paul, Thomas, and Daniel. Bob cherished his daughters-in-law Leticia and Lydia, his grandchildren David, Daniel II, Robert Thomas, Nathan, Jesus, Aryelle, Tim, and his great-granddaughter Albanee.
Bob obtained a Bachelor’s degree from Northern Arizona University and a Master's degree in teaching from the University of Arizona, concentrating in Physical Education and Industrial Arts. He began his teaching career in 1958 at 4th Avenue Junior High School and continued teaching in 1966 at R.P. Woodard Jr. High School. During his career, he was a Physical Education Coordinator and Vice Principal at Woodard Jr. High School until retiring in 1989. Bob later came out of retirement where he successfully implemented a disciplinary program for the San Pasqual School District.
Throughout his life, Bob was an active member of his church and community. He was a life-long member of the Immaculate Conception Parish, where he served as a lay eucharistic minister. In addition, he was a proud cursillista and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Bob had a passion for woodworking and spent time in his shop creating furniture for family, friends, and organizations in need. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and continued to maintain a deep love of sports. Eventually, he combined his love of carpentry and sports to create his own set of golf clubs.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Alfredo and Lucinda DeLintt, sister Cecilia Lute and son Thomas DeLintt.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to the Immaculate Conception School or Yuma Catholic High School.
Funeral services will be held June 18, 2021 at Immaculate Conception Church 505 S. Avenue B, Yuma, Arizona 85364, with a rosary at 9:30 a.m. followed by a mass at 10 a.m.The inurnment service will follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
