June 14, 1951 - February 5, 2025
Robyn was born on June 14, 1951, in Phoenix, Arizona to Grady and Audrey Watkins. She grew up in her home state, attending schools in Goodyear, Scottsdale and Yuma. Robyn graduated from Yuma High School in 1969 and was active in school activities. She was on the girl's tennis team and played clarinet and flute - and was a majorette - in the Crims Marching Band. She was also active in 4-H and competed with projects in clothing, foods, and market steers.
Robyn's higher education journey began at Arizona Western College, then after a break, she continued with Northern Arizona University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree.
The banking industry is where Robyn began her professional career; she held several positions over many years. She then took her business experience to Gowan & Co where she worked with agricultural clients in various capacities.
Robyn married Larry Suciu, the love of her life, in 1985. They had several shared interests including travel, vintage cars, old movies, motorcycles, golf, and cats. Both had pilot licenses and received training and certification for scuba diving. One of their most incredible dives was in the Turk Islands, searching the sunken ships from World War II.
Robyn was active in the Yuma community. Her passion to assist women led to her involvement with CASA de Yuma. She was one of the first volunteers and later served on the Board of Directors. Wanting to continue with her music, Robyn performed in a community orchestra. She also competed in local sports activities including tennis, racket ball and softball. Robyn had a soft heart for cats, and they knew it; stray cats somehow found her and when they did, they also found a loving home.
Robyn battled cancer for over a year. She died peacefully on February 5, 2025. Her husband, Larry, passed away just two months earlier.
Robyn is survived by her brother Kelly Watkins (Tina); her sister Maryann Watkins; brother-in-law Tom Suciu (Geralyn); nephews and nieces Callan, Clay, Courtney (Eric), Scott, Kim and Rhett and grand-nieces Kerby and Claire. She will be greatly missed.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 1:30 pm at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, 1415 S. 15 Ave, Yuma. In lieu of flowers, please honor Robyn with a donation to Humane Society of Yuma, Hospice of Yuma or the Hansen House.
