Raymond Allen Sanders, 92, of Brandon, Mississippi, while at his home surrounded by some of his loved ones, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 12, 2021. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at 3:00 pm in the chapel at Parkway Funeral Home, with visitation from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.
Ray was born on September 26, 1928 in Franklin County, Tennessee to John Raymond Sanders and Hazel Goodman Sanders. In his younger years, he played pro baseball in the Cardinals Minor League Organization as a catcher, which allowed him many travels. He later started his own kitchen design business called Kitchen Kreators. He was an avid fisherman who also enjoyed boating, golfing, gardening, and coaching baseball. He was a life-long member of the Methodist Church where he faithfully served in many ministries and demonstrated his love for the Lord.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John Raymond Sanders and Hazel Sanders; son, Bobby Sanders; and sister, Peggy Chambers.
Remaining to cherish his memory are the love of his life and wife of 73 years, Doris Storey Sanders; sister, Levon Doolittle (Tommy); three children, Debbie Shows (Rusty), Ken Sanders (Margaret), and Sandy Shorter (Kevin); nine grandchildren, Connie Boothe (Shane), Missy Medcalf (Johnny), Sherry Haney (Byron), Ray Sanders (Valerie), Casey Shows (Tara), Carly Thompson (Jay), Shontina Sanders (Nathan), Ben Sanders (Mary), and Kristin Lane (Steven); seventeen great-grandchildren; and many other family members and dear friends.
