Catherine Florette Kinsella, 70, of Olathe, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2021. She will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to everyone she knew.
Catherine was born on April 10, 1951 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to John David and Florette Catherine (Stadher) Mertes. She attended and graduated from Brooklyn Center High School class of 1969. After graduation she attended North Hennepin State Junior College in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota where she earned her Associates Degree in Nursing.
Catherine met the love of her life Stephen Francis Kinsella. They were married on September 15, 1972 in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. Together they raised their seven children Michelle, Kimberly, Lisa, Stephen, Christopher, Marcus and Makenzie.
Catherine was a member of the Women’s Bible Study at Church of the Harvest in Olathe, Kansas. She was enrolled and was anticipating to start at Charis Bible College. She will be remembered as a “Fashionista”, from her hair to her nails and her sparkling jewelry, she was always dressed for any occasion. She even dressed to work in her garden, which she enjoyed very much. Catherine enjoyed spending time with her family. Nothing gave her more pleasure in life than the time she spent with her grandchildren.
Catherine is preceded in death by her parents John and Florette Mertes. She is survived by her loving husband of forty nine years Steve Kinsella of the home. Seven children: Michelle C. Kinsella and her husband Shawn Pabst of Lenexa, Kansas, Kimberly C. Kinsella of Olathe, Kansas, Lisa M. Cooper and her husband Robert of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Stephen M. Kinsella and his wife Clarice of Seattle, Washington, Christopher M. Kinsella of Olathe, Kansas, Marcus D. Kinsella of Olathe, Kansas, Makenzie K. Kinsella of Olathe, Kansas and Ralph B. Olson-Kinsella of Olathe, Kansas. Catherine is also survived by her brother David Mertes and his wife Sue of Big Lake, Minnesota and her sister Elizabeth Olson and her husband Doug of Davis, Illinois along with her faithful companion “Webster”. She will be sadly missed.
A “Celebration of Life” honoring the life of Catherine will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning, September 25, 2021 at the Church of the Harvest 14841 South Black Bob Road Olathe, Kansas.
