Judy Jane Hofmann, age 80, went to her heavenly home on the afternoon of January 30, 2019. She passed away in her sleep. A memorial visitation will be Monday, February 17th at 3pm with a funeral service at 4pm both held at Kaul’s Funeral Home, 35201 Garfield Road, Clinton Township, MI 48035. She will have a private burial the following day with immediate family.
Judy enjoyed playing and watching sports, and was a loyal Detroit Tigers’ fan. She had played softball as a girl, and remained a fan of baseball. She had been an avid bowler and golfer, and had won many trophies. She was also an accomplished photographer and artist. She enjoyed traveling; and took amazing postcard-quality photos on each trip. She was also a fervent animal lover, and donated to organizations that protected them. Her photographs tended to focus mostly on animals and scenery. She also had a passion for horses, and rode them when she was a girl. In her latter years she was a euchre enthusiast, going as much as 3 times a week to play cards with her friends. She was remembered most for her generous heart, her smile, her razor-sharp wit, and her remarkable sense of humor – which she maintained even when her health was failing.
After raising her two children, she pursued a career in Graphic design with an Associate Degree in Graphic Arts. Upon her retirement, she enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and boating with her late husband, John.
Judy is survived by her daughter, Kim Bauernfeind, of Marshfield, WI, her son, Kurtis Klein of Portland, OR, her brother, Randal Pagel, of Harrison Township, her granddaughters Stephani and Emily, and her great granddaughter, Sidney. She is further survived by several nieces and nephews, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John Hofmann, her father, Carl Pagel, and her mother, Violet Olga Bumler.
She will be missed by family and friends, and will remain in our hearts forever. Condolences and fond memories may be offered to the family at www.kaulfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers’ Foundation of America.
