Thomas Lou Malloch, 73, died peacefully following a brief illness. Born on February 1, 1947, Tom was the son of James R. and June L. Malloch. Born in California, spending high school years in Hawaii, and going where his life took him, Tom was truly the embodiment of a free spirit who lived life to the fullest. The nickname "Big T" applied to both his physical stature and his larger than life personality.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sydnor A. Malloch of the home and son Scott Thomas Malloch of Charlotte. Also, brother James Malloch and wife Virl of Texas; sister Caroline Clack and husband Dan of Nevada; brother Michael Malloch of New York; brother-in-law Charles L. Alexander of North Carolina; two nieces, Patti Ledbetter and Terri Montalvo and their spouses and children and his 4-legged best friend Rex.
Per his request and due to the current health conditions, there will be no formal funeral service. Tom
has asked that his friends lift a glass to him and remember him as the good friend he has been to so
many. And as he would have said, "save time, do it my way". Rest in peace Tom. We will always love you.
Our thanks to the staff of Novant- Matthews Hospital, both ICU and hospice, for their caring and help. They are truly exceptional people.
Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral and Cremation Service, Charlotte.
