Beloved wife of Earl (Arch) Archibald. Ella leaves to mourn her passing daughter Cheryl-Ann (Michael) and son Brian (Joanne). Sharing the loss are grandchildren Devin (Laura), Avery, Andrea (Tim), Daniela and five great grandchildren. As well, Ella leaves a sister, Gloria, in Bedford, Nova Scotia. She will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Over Arch’s 43-year-long career with Royal Bank of Canada Ella weathered many moves with equanimity. Although she would likely not acknowledge it, Ella was very much a contributing partner as Arch rose though the ranks at Royal Bank.
After moves within Nova Scotia Arch was transferred to Montreal in 1960, followed by Pembroke, Ontario in 1962, then Winnipeg in 1965, Vancouver in 1969, back to Montreal in 1977 and finally Calgary in 1979. Following Arch’s retirement in 1983 they moved to Kelowna, BC and enjoyed many happy years together until Arch’s passing in 2000. In 2010 Ella moved to Surrey.
Through the years together Arch and Ella enjoyed recreational sports, curling in the winter and golfing in the summer. They spent many happy weeks on golf holidays in warmer climes. Ella was a talented dressmaker who made her own clothes as well as Cheryl-Ann’s while she was growing up. Ella was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Born and raised an Anglican, Ella never wavered in her devotion to God. She set the example for the entire family.
The family wishes to thank the medical and care staff at Elim Village for the loving and compassionate care Ella received in her last years of life. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
A graveside funeral will be held April 9, 2021 at 12:00PM at Christ Church Anglican Cemetery in Surrey Centre, where Ella will be laid to rest beside Arch.
