Patsie Lavender Glanville was born in Jamaica on September 5,1948 and went to her rest on April 5,2021. She was the third of eight siblings. Patsy is sadly missed by her sisters, Jean, Ei-leen, Rose Glanville, Florine Barnes, Joy Young and brothers: Robert and Harvey Glanville and eighteen nephews and nieces. Patsie’s parents, Lancell Birth and Mableth Glanvile pre-deceased her nine and three years ago respectively.
Patsie was devoted to serving her Lord throughout her life. Her eldest sister Jean states: “She grew up as a very quiet, easy-going, loving person whose main desire was to serve the Lord. She was baptized at the age of 13 and was a committed member of the Harry Watch SDA church in Jamaica where she served in whatever ministry she was asked. After graduating high school, Pasty went on to obtain her diploma in Bookkeeping. She also tried her hand at dressmaking. She moved to Vancouver in 1989 to join her sister, Eileen and her family. She has lived a life of servitude to God and she will be greatly missed by her sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.”
Her sister Eileen shared: “Patsie loved to sing, play the piano, read, volunteer in the service of others especially prison ministry, hospital visitation, and coming alongside teams at Union Gospel Mission, spending time with and communicating with family and friends. Her generosity was boundless. Patsie was described as a good listener who always made time to listen.
After moving to Vancouver, Patsie dedicated many years to serving at Oakridge Adventist Church.
Her nephew Lynford wrote, “ Words cannot express the sadness and sense of loss that I feel with the passing of my dear aunt Pasty. The reality is that you will grieve forever. Auntie Pasty grew up in the district of Hibirnia, Jamaica where her, my grandparents, instilled the value of having a personal relationship with the Lord, community and the importance of fami-ly. Growing up, I always viewed Auntie Pasty as an angel, immortal and will live forever. For all her nieces and nephews and for those she was around, she had a way of making each of us feel like we were her favourite. I guess that is what angels do.
Some of Pasty's most memorable quotes over the years-
"Make sure it's not pork"
"Oh sure"
"Where is Gerald and Georgina"
"When trouble tek you pickney shirt fit you"
"Trust in the Lord"
REST IN PEACE
PSALM 23
1The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
