It is with sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Glendon Atlee Lewellyn Henshaw on April 15, 2021. Born January 1, 1933 he was a son of the late Lewellyn and Gertrude Henshaw.
Glen was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and uncle. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Erna Marie (Nelson); children, Melody Robertson, Faron Henshaw (Courtney Mullen), Shawna (Scott) Morrell, Chris (Paula) Henshaw; grandchildren, Jessica (Khoi), Logan, Tyler (Regan), Wyatt, Liam, Rowan, Kevin, Kelsey, Robin, Christopher; great grandchildren, Nylah, Kai, Kason; foster children, Sheila Johnston, Phyllis Franklin and brother-in-law Walter Ruggles. Besides his parents Glen was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters of Waldec, Nova Scotia.
Loved and respected is perhaps the best way to describe Glen. His many business endeavors and his dedication to hard work and getting things accomplished was perhaps the key to his success. In later years after a long recovery from an accident, he kept busy, always tinkering at something. His attention to detail and love of automobiles especially all things Chrysler began his interest in painting. He was a talented craftsman, turned meticulous artist who could fix anything from a small cut to a whole house and prided himself on the fine details. His talents survive on canvas and in memory. His love and passion for family and especially grandchildren was most important in life. Glen loved meeting new people and enjoyed a close connection and regular visits from those he knew. Everyone will fondly remember his gruff voice, but soft demeanor underneath. He was always willing to help and sacrifice for others without hesitation. A well-humoured man that enjoyed laughing as much among others as (at himself). We will all remember his affection for cheese. He leaves those remaining with many projects unfinished to remind us of all that he supported while alive and an emptiness inside where he now remains in memory. Enduring difficult times throughout life and finding solutions was a gift he taught many.
With his knowledge and experience sacrificing his time to always help others just came naturally. He would never want you to grieve his passing. Instead smile, remember and share a positive connection you had with him. Cremation has taken place under the care of Jayne’s Funeral Home, Digby. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations in Glen’s memory can be made to a charity of choice. Share a memory or leave a condolence at www.jaynesfuneralhome.com
