Alice was born Oct. 29, 1927 to Sadaichi and Makiyo Okimura in Perkins CA. She was the 5th of 6 children. Attended Sierra Grammar School until the start of WWII. In 1942 the whole Okimura family was uprooted to a relocation center in Jerome Arkansas.
While being interned, she met Seiki Yoshimura while he was visiting his family before being shipped overseas with the 442 Battalion. After the end of the war they met up again and after a courtship of several years were married Nov 22, 1947 at the Fresno Buddhist Church. While farming in the Easton and Fowler area. They were blessed with two children. Geraldine in Jan of 1949 and Lindell in Aug of 1953. In 1957 Seiki and Alice bought a 40 acre farm in Caruthers using a G.I. Loan. In May of 1958, they had their 3rd child Myron. From 1957 through 1976, they raised their children in the Caruthers Union School District where all 3 did very well in academics and athletics. All 3 graduated college, had good careers, married and had families of their own. In the 1980’s. Seiki and Alice began to travel. To Europe, Japan, and throughout the United States. In 2004. Seiki passed due to Alzheimer’s. Alice remained in their house till 2016. She then moved to Vintage Gardens and stayed there until she passed April, 22, 2021. She was proceeded in death by husband Seiki and son in law Will Brady. She leaves behind daughter Geraldine. Son Lindell and his wife Susan. Son Myron and his wife Natalie. Grandchildren Patrick, Kristen and husband Alan, Bryce, Johnathan and his wife April, and Marcus. Great grand children Theodore, Ava and Ellie. Alice will be remembered as a hard worker. Spending countless hours working hard in the fields. A good friend and neighbor. Mother, grandmother and lastly great grandmother. Alice will be missed.
A visitation for Alice will be held Friday, May 14, 2021 from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Lisle Funeral Home, 1605 L Street, Fresno, CA 93721. A graveside service will occur Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 11:00 am at Washington Colony Cemetery.
