David Earl DeMedicis, 67, passed away unexpectedly on April 29th in Birmingham, AL. He was born to Jack DeMedicis and the late Marie Earl (Coggins) DeMedicis on April 19, 1954 while Jack was stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City, LA. Growing up in an Air Force family meant calling multiple places home including Japan, the Philippines, and Andrews Airforce Base in Maryland. David’s family settled in Birmingham, AL when he was a teenager and he graduated from Huffman High School.
David earned a finance degree from UAB, and had a successful career in banking. He was an avid reader and lifelong learner. Other passions included travel, history, genealogy, and fitness. His family will miss his unique sense of humor, and kindness. David excelled as a friend, husband, father, uncle and grandfather. He gave his loved ones genuine support and encouragement. Everyone who met David was touched by his interest in them.
He is survived by his wife Teresa Rivadeneira; stepchildren Luis Ramos (Aimee), Eduardo Ramos (Amy), and Victoria Reyes; step-grandchildren: Sofia, Isabella, Daniel, and Iris (who affectionately called him Papa David); brother Steve DeMedicis (Kat); nephews Jeff DeMedicis (April), Jack DeMedicis, and Drake DeMedicis; and nieces Marie DeMedicis Wilson (Adam), and Mia Meyers.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Ridout’s Valley Chapel in Homewood, AL at 3:00 p.m. with the funeral service following at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the Birmingham Zoo.
