Born May 1, 1940, in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Maurice and Violet Acri. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 56 years, Joyce, and sister Marsha (Acri) Chaki.
Jerry was a 1958 graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School and was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. He was a past member of The Hershey Italian Lodge, The Knights of Columbus Council 869, and The Colonial Country Club. He retired from Xpedx, formerly Harrisburg Paper Company, as Vice-President, Director Government Division after 43 years.
He loved summer vacations to Avalon, NJ, traveling the world with Joyce (Italy & Ireland were favs), playing bocce with friends, solving the world’s problems with his comrades over coffee, having lunch at Two Brothers Pizza, and walking the mall. He loved the game of golf and spent countless hours on the greens at Colonial – registering a few flight championships and a hole in one. He was blessed with great oratory skills and was a natural born salesman. He was never without a joke or antidote and his quick wit and humor will be missed.
He is survived by daughter Colleen M. Stewart (Randy) of LaVale, MD and son Michael S. Acri (Dina) of Lower Paxton Township. He was “Pop-Pop” to his grandchildren Chloe and Madison Stewart and Gianna and Vincent Acri.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Ecumenical Retirement Community and UPMC Osteopathic for their kind and compassionate care.
