On Thursday, May 20, 2021, Fred Erling Waage, husband and father, passed away. He was a resident of Germantown, Tennessee. Fred is survived by his loving wife, Mary A. Waage; daughter, Felicia Waage; son, Bill Waage; nephew, Herb Hayes; two siblings; and many other in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Erling and Jenny Waage and a brother, John Kenneth.
Fred was born 1944 in Santa Barbara, California to Norwegian immigrants. He attended Santa Barbara public schools, later enlisting in the U.S. Navy where he served on the U.S.S. Long Beach as a Machinist Mate in nuclear engineering.
In 1972, Fred was the President of the Streetsboro, Ohio Sesquicentennial Celebration.
Through his 76 years, he has touched the lives of many people whether volunteering for church, Team Read, or a person in need. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and customers. His hobbies included reading, automotive, engineering, and woodworking projects.
A service will take place on Friday, June 11 at 1:45 PM at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Road, Memphis Tennessee. Followed by a celebration of his life at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 8151 Poplar Avenue, Germantown, in the open-air pavilion (if rain, Fr. Gresham Hall).
