Francis (Frank) J. Aker, 96, of East Dennis, MA (formerly of West Roxbury, MA) passed away on May 30, 2021 at Cape Cod Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Boston, MA to the late George V. and Mary A. (Farlardeau) Aker on December 18, 1924. Francis was a graduate of Commerce High School, Boston and had an accounting certificate from Bentley School of Accounting and Finance.
He was a proud World War II Navy veteran who served on LSTs in the European theater. USS LST 499 (his ship) participated in the invasion of Normandy in June 1944. He was awarded the Purple Heart. Frank was a member of the former East Dennis VFW post.
A dedicated employee, he worked nearly 50 years for Boston Gas as an accountant. Upon retirement, he and his wife Gloria moved to their home in East Dennis. Here he enjoyed the beauty of Cape Cod, especially the boating season and the close proximity to his daughter and son-in-law. They shared many happy meals, vacations and most importantly time together.
A considerate and compassionate man who deeply loved his family and those close to him. He will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 71 years, Gloria (Bertorelli); his daughter, Paula and son-in-law Michael Connelly and grand-dog Daisy. Mary Dauphinais and husband Leo; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings; Elmer Aker, Evelyn Bowyer, Helen Volpe and Lorraine Boudrot.
Funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of the Cape, Brewster, MA on Friday, June 11th at 11:00 am. Burial will be private.
The family would like to thank Cape Cod Hospital’s dedicated nurses and doctors on 3 North for their wonderful and thoughtful care of Frank. They were his angels.
